Building Relationships to Build Business!

COACH MKay Tip of the month

How do you use your time to strengthen relationships and open doors of opportunity to grow professionally and personally? One of my executive coaching clients was attending the MGMA (Medical Group Managers) meeting for North Carolina in Wilmington this month. I decided to register and attend the Thursday session so we could learn, grow and hang out together!

How wonderful to join her at Rockingham Revenue Services expo booth to meet her clients, visit with some members from the Greensboro, NC chapter where Janet Woodall serves as the president and was able to meet some new administrators from around the state. So much fun to hear some great speakers too!

In April, I was invited to speak at the SOMSA (Society of OMS Administrators) in San Antonio and was thrilled several months earlier when I received a phone call from the speaker chair sharing, “your name has been requested over the years” and asked if I was available. You see, many moons ago, I spoke for the JAWS Society and the organization had rebranded and the theme of their meeting was: Eclipsing the Ordinary, Emerging Extraordinary.

Another cool element was the timing of the conference revolving around the eclipse and I asked one of my colleagues to join me on stage to share his career journey. You see, he and I met at AADOM (American Association of Dental Office Managers) in San Diego years ago, where I encouraged him to start his own consulting firm and to join NSCHBC (National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants). How exciting it was to see familiar faces, meet someone who knew my father, a periodontist and run into a former client. Sometimes we have to say ‘no’ to the good so we can say ‘yes’ to the great!

Time is the one thing we don’t get back. How do you want to use your time more strategically to build relationships to create connections to build business? Good friends make the world go round and super grateful for Janet’s friendship and business partnership the past two years. I’m visiting the MGMA Wilmington chapter this month and just put my application in to join SOMSA today.

I was a HUGE fan of Zig Ziglar and one of his philosophies was to ‘help people get what they want and ultimately you get what you want’. I love helping people go to the next level of success in their work world and home life and look forward to helping more people in 2024. Make every day count!
